Additionally, when asked whether he would attempt to annex Canada, Trump replied that it would be done through “economic means,” suggesting that “they should become a state of the U.S.”

Trump also proposed renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the “American Gulf.”

Winter Storm Disrupts U.S. with Power Outages and Travel Chaos

A severe winter storm continued to affect multiple regions of the U.S. on January 6, with blizzards battering the Midwest and East Coast. Numerous areas experienced power outages and transportation disruptions.

At least five people have been reported dead due to the storm, according to U.S. media.

The storm impacted several states on January 6, with districts in Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky announcing school closures. The federal government offices and public schools in Washington, D.C. were also closed due to the blizzards.

Power outage tracking websites showed that the storm left about 350,000 people without electricity across nine states, from Missouri to Virginia.

Flight tracking sites reported that at least 2,400 flights were canceled, and over 22,000 flights were delayed due to the severe weather.

Additionally, snowstorms and ice caused major highway closures across several states. In Missouri, at least 600 drivers were trapped in the extreme weather, and Maryland reported over 100 car accidents on January 6.
