Cancellation of PSS on Far East-South America West Coast Route

Recently, shipping giant Maersk released two announcements regarding peak season surcharge (PSS) for South America routes.

One announcement states that, starting from January 13, Maersk will terminate the collection of PSS on the Far East to Central America and Caribbean/South America West Coast routes.

The second announcement indicates that, from January 20, there will be an adjustment to the PSS for all dry containers on the Far East (excluding Taiwan, China) to South America East Coast route.

Maersk further clarified that, from January 20, cargoes from Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, South Korea, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, East Timor, and Vietnam to Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay will be subject to a peak season surcharge of USD 250 for small containers and USD 300 for large containers.
