- National State of Disaster Declared
Chile has declared a nationwide state of disaster as wildfires continue to spread across the southern regions, damaging communities and transportation infrastructure.
- Port Shutdowns and Operational Restrictions
In the most severely affected zones, the ports of San Vicente, Talcahuano, and Lirquén have been directly impacted. Lirquén Port has fully halted operations, while San Vicente and Talcahuano remain in service with strict limitations in place.
- Mixed Conditions Across Northern and Central Ports
Northern ports are experiencing varied situations, with Mejillones’ Angamos terminal restricted due to heavy swells, while Arica, Iquique, Antofagasta, and Coquimbo remain fully operational.
In central Chile, Valparaíso has restricted both of its terminals because of adverse weather conditions, while San Antonio Port continues normal operations. Coronel and Punta Arenas are also functioning normally.
- Outlook and Ongoing Containment Efforts
Firefighting authorities warned that strong winds and high temperatures are complicating containment efforts. Combined with marine weather disruptions, Chile’s port network may continue to experience uneven performance in the foreseeable future.
