On June 23 (local time), former U.S. President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social, declaring that Israel and Iran have fully agreed to a complete and total ceasefire.
According to Trump’s statement, the ceasefire is set to begin approximately six hours after his post, which was made at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time on June 23—meaning it will commence at midnight on June 24 Eastern Time.
The ceasefire agreement reportedly consists of two 12-hour truce phases. Iran will initiate the first 12-hour ceasefire, followed by Israel observing the second 12-hour period. After a full 24 hours, the war will officially be declared over.
Trump wrote in his post:
“CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! lt has beenfully agreed by and between lsrael and lran thatthere will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (inapproximately 6 hours from now, when lsrael andlran have wound down and completed their inprogress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at whichpoint the War will be considered, ENDED!Officially, lran will start the CEASEFIRE and, uponthe 12th Hour, lsrael will start the CEASEFIREand, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World. Duringeach CEASEFIRE, the other side will remainPEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL. On the assumptionthat everything works as it should, which it will, lwould like to congratulate both Countries, lsraeland lran, on having the Stamina, Courage, andIntelligence to end, what should be called,“THE12 DAY WAR.” This is a War that could have goneon for years, and destroyed the entire MiddleEast, but it didn’t, and never will! God blessIsrael, God bless lran, God bless the Middle EastGod bless the United States of America, andGOD BLESS THE WORLD!”
As of now, neither Israel nor Iran has issued any official statement confirming the ceasefire agreement.
Meanwhile, just as Trump made his announcement, reports from CCTV indicate that a massive explosion occurred in northeastern Tehran, the capital of Iran. Residents in the area told reporters that moments before the blast, they heard the roar of fighter jets flying overhead.
